Manner of Improvement of the NGOs› Performance in Combating with Drugs

NGOs play role as independent entities which do not rely on government; and they are voluntarily established for non-profit and non-political purposes. Nowadays, they have been so effective in combating drugs and diminishing demand for drugs. Hence, the major objective of this research is manner of improvement of NGOs performance in combating with drugs (Case study: Holy city of Mashad).

The present research, in terms of the objective, is of applied type; and in terms of nature and approach is of descriptive-survey type. including the antidrug experts and managers of NGOs active in Mashad. In order to enhance the internal credit of research, statistical sample is equal statistical population (head count).

The research findings indicated that the constituent of treatment and damage reduction, safeguarding, empowerment, and prevention as constituents of demand reduction are at a desirable level, and cooperation of NGOs with organizations and entities which are active in treatment activities, and social prevention could be very useful.

The results indicated that the most important factor contributing to the performance of NGOs are prevention, treatment, damage reduction, safeguarding and empowerment. Police forces could use this process in combating drugs.
