The Role of Social Networks on Privacy

Virtual social networks have expanded over the past decade, and especially in Iran, individuals regardless of age, gender, and social and economic base have welcomed the frequent membership of these networks. In addition to this material culture, it is necessary to set up and establish rules. Because of the widespread use of virtual social networks, despite the benefits of these networks, we see new challenges and abuses, especially in the field of personal information in the family, finance, and etc., and according to The importance of privacy of individuals as a fundamental human right; in the present article, the main purpose is to examine the role of telegram and WhatsApp networks on individuals' privacy. In this regard, the relationship between the sharing of interests by members, content creation by members and targeted advertising with the privacy threat of individuals. The research method is survey and a researcher-made questionnaire (with Cronbach's alpha, 0/962) is used to collect the data. The statistical population of the survey is all the users of the Telegram and WhatsApp in the 9th and 22th district of Tehran. The findings show that there is a meaningful relationship between the sharing of interests by members in social networks and the privacy of individuals. There is also a relationship between the create of content in telegram and WhatsApp and the privacy.
