Investigating the Effect of Magnetic Water and Salinity on Morphological Traits and Growth of Aerial Parts of Peppermint

In order to investigate the effect of magnetic water on the percentage of chemical compounds of peppermint plant, this research was carried out in Islamic Azad University Shar-e-Rey branch greenhouse in the south of Tehran. The study followed a factorial complete randomized design with three replications. The first factor was salinity at four levels i.e., 0, 100, 200, and 400 mM. The second factor included four levels of magnetic intensity i.e., 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5 Tesla. According to the results of the study, all the traits studied were affected by salinity stress. In the case of magnetic water, only the leaf surface was affected. None of the interaction effects were significant. The results of the comparison of the means revealed that all of the studied traits decreased due to salinity effect and the highest values belonged to plant height, number of branches, plant dry weight, leaf area, and the number of leaves while the lowest amount belonged to 400 mM Sodium chloride application. The lowest amount was obtained from no-salinity stress treatment. Regarding the positive effect of magnetic water, the best treatment at the plant leaf area was related to 1 Tesla magnetic water and the lowest amount belonged to ordinary water.
