Effect of ceftiofur hydrochloride on postpartum uterine health of Holstein dairy cow that affected by placenta retention and dystocia

Survey of ceftiofur hydrochloride on dairy cow uterine health that had been affected by placenta retention and dystocia had been done and also fertility rate of both group counted. A total of 300 dairy cow has been divided equally in two groups. All cows affected by dystocia and placenta retention randomly have assigned in two groups.in the treatment group ceftiofur hydrochloride injected 2.2mg/kg SC during 5 days and in the control group cows that had placenta retention oxytetracyclin injected intra uterus 24h after parturition and also oxytocin 50 IU before OTC has injected 2times every 8 h after parturition and cows that had dystocia in the control group did not receive anything. ceftiofur hydrochloride in the treatment group decreased rate of infections in comparison of control group significantly. (p<0.01)Also open days in the treatment group was lower than control group significantly. (p<0.05)First service rate was lower in the control group significantly. (p<0.01) The results had shown that preventing of uterine infection and metritis is inevitable part of dairy cow transitional period. ceftiofur hydrochloride injection as a preventing drug can be utilize in the farms that have dystocia and placenta retention abnormally before every control program for reducing these disorders.
