A study on consistency the reality of Iranian marital relationships with the Giddens's concept of Pure Relationship; The study case: city of Tehran

Giddens, explains recent changes in field of intimate relations as a process of transforming intimacy into pure relationship and considers it a global process. The concept that has been taken into account in many analyzes of marital relationships in Iran, and some researchers in this area have spoken about the transformation of marital relations into the pure relationship. Accordingly, in the present article, which is based on the findings of a survey study with a sample size of 482 people in Tehran, we seek to answer the question that ‘given the reality of marital relationships in today's Iranian society, are we defend of the forming Giddensian pure relationship in this society?’ For this purpose, I create a conceptual model of pure relationship composed of five main indicators including "marital roles", "marital logic", "marital trust", "marital durability" and "marital significance", and exposed the model to respondent’s votes via the survey. The results of this study in a general statement indicate that the pure relationship with an average percentage of nearly 32% (versus the traditional relationship with an average percentage of over 68%) does not provide a proper explanation for the status of marital relationships in our society. Due to the imbalance scores obtained for the different aspects of marital relations in the sample we can be acknowledge the main characteristic of the society should be summarized in unbalanced marital attitudes.
