The Effect of Six Weeks of High-intensity Interval Training with Cinnamon Supplementation on Serum Apelin Concentration and Insulin Resistance in Overweight Girls
The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of Six weeks of high-volume, high-intensity interval training with Cinnamon supplementation on serum Apelin concentration and insulin resistance in overweight Girls. Forty-eight students’ overweight Girls were randomly and equally assigned into four groups:1) training, 2) training and supplement, 3) supplement, 4) control. Blood samples were taken before and after training. Two groups 1 and 2 performed high-volume, high-intensity interval training program for Six weeks and 3 sessions per week. Also, Group 2 (training and supplement) in addition to doing training, as well as group 3 (only supplement,) ate 3 capsules daily, each containing 380 mg of cinnamon. Apelin, glucose and insulin levels measured with ELISA kit and data were analyzed by using one, two-way and ANCOVA Analysis of variance at the level of significance of P≤0.05. Results of study showed training affect significantly on serum levels of Apelin (P=0.0001), But supplement and interaction training and supplement didn’t effect significantly on serum levels of Apelin (P>0.05). Also, the results showed that the training, supplement and interaction training and supplement significantly effect on insulin resistance index (P≤0.05). According to the results can be announced شش weeks of high-intensity interval training by reducing rest level of serum Apelin and insulin resistance index is effective in overweight Girls. Also, cinnamon supplementation does not affect resting level of serum Apelin.
