A Research into the Nature of the Sudden Revelation of the Holy Quran

The quality of revelation and manifestation of the Holy Quran is an important matter in Quranic sciences which was questioned by Muslims and Jews from the beginning of the revelation of the Quran, and certain ayahs were revealed to offer clarification regarding this issue. However, the appearance of some of ayahs of the Quran proves a sudden revelation of the Quran at the night of the Decree (Laylatol al-Qadr) which is not compatible with some other verses as well as historical facts. Throughout history, interpreters have strived to find unity between the two sets of ayahs – some have rejected the sudden revelation and clarified its ayahs, and some have explained its nature in light of certain narratives. By giving a detailed account of and criticizing previous ideas and through employing the ayahs of the Quran, the present paper aims to clarify regarding the nature of sudden revelation of the Quran and to resolve doubts concerning this matter.
