The Effect of Spirituality on the Quality of Nursing Care
"The spiritual dimension of human existence" plays an important role in his physical-psycho-social health. Nurses' attention to spirituality and "spiritual wellbeing" is very important for providing holistic care. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of spirituality on the quality of nursing care.
This qualitative study was conducted with "library method" and "non-systematic review". Researches and available articles were reviewed from 2005 to 2017 on the provision of nursing care and the impact of spirituality. The search was performed by using the keywords: "spirituality", "the quality of patient service", "nurses", "patient" in Iranian medex internal files, Magi ran, Iran Doc. SID, Medline, Scopus, Pro Quest, Ovid. According to the inclusion criteria and targeted sampling, 33 Persian and English articles were reviewed.
In this research, the study of scientific evidence indicates the important role of spirituality in health, goodness and quality of life of patients and the quality of services provided by nurses. Assistance in meeting the spiritual needs of patients is an essential element of clinical care. Paying attention to spiritual care in nursing is necessary for achieving professional care.
Spiritual care increases the health and well-being of the patient and the family. In the planning of nursing education, paying attention to "nursing professional competency enhancement strategies" is necessary for providing spiritual care, by professors, instructors and active nursing researchers.
