Nursing Care in Children with detergent poisoning
Poisoning in children is one of the important reasons of their hospitalization. Poisoning happens when the body absorbed a substance through mouth, breathing, mucous, vessels, etc. It can be harmful or even fatal. This article tries to introduce poisoning in children and its nursing care at home or in the hospital.
This article is a review collected through library studies and searching some key
words including poisoning, children, and detergent in websites such as SID, Science Direct, and Pub Med in 2005-2014.
Children under 5 years, more than other groups at risk of poisoning because young children
may take anything into your mouth down It is some part of this age group’s training and understanding of their environment. It exposes hem to poisoning. There is a high probability of a burn in the respiratory tract in poisoning by chemical substances; therefore, examining the respiratory system is counted as the first nursing action.
Increase in access and use of chemical substances leads to an increase in the cases of poisoning in children and their mortality, so it is recommended not to keep detergents in soda pop and juice bottles in the lower kitchen cupboards. Moreover, parents should be taught protective and preventive actions regarding poisoning in order to guarantee the health of children.
