The Effects of Inactivity on Organizational Commitment, with Emphasis on the Mediating Role of Occupational Burnout (Case Study of Iranian Police Organization)
The present paper investigates the effects of inactivity on organizational commitment, with emphasis on the mediating role of occupational burnout (case study of Iranian Police Organization). This paper utilized a descriptive correlational methodology. Questionnaire was used for data collection including Inventory of inactivity in path of career advancement (22 items), organizational commitment (24 items) and burnout (15 items); after distribution to staff, 203 questionnaires were collected. Data analysis was done using structural equation modeling software and Smart pls. The results show that the inactivity in career has no significant negative impact on organizational commitment. The inactivity in career has a significant negative impact on organizational commitment through burnout and ultimately burnout has a significant negative impact on organizational commitment. This finding means that the variable of burnout has a paramount importance in the organization and it requires the attention of leaders, managers and police authorities so that to optimize measures to reduce the negative effects of the occupational burnout phenomenon.
