A comparative study of Adolescents’ Mental Well-Being according to Patterns of Mother-Child Relationship (an Attempt to Expand the Pattern of Islamic- Iranian Parenting)
An effective parenting which results in having happy, healthy, and productive children demands showing an affective native pattern base on Iranian culture. The purpose of this study is to compare adolescents’ mental well-being according to mother-child relationship patterns including 14-18-year-old high school students in Tehran. For this purpose, 219 students were selected by available sampling method for the comparative study based on a casual descriptive method. And Baqiri’s questionnaires about parent-child relationship and Reif's psychological well-being were prepared to assess the psychological well-being and mother-child relationship style. One-way ANOVA and Fisher's exact test were used for analyzing data. The results of data analysis show that adolescents’ mental well-being with respect to mother-child relationship patterns is significantly different so that the scores of mental well-being graded from high to low are related to the style of steady relationship, security centeredness, freedom centeredness and finally inconsistent style.
