Efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on the Infertility Stress and Depression in the Infertile Couples
Infertility is among the most important challenges in the modern life that some of the couples are entangled with and their psychological and emotional health is damaged as the result of it. Therefore, the present study was investigated aiming to investigate the efficacy of ACT and infertility stress and depression on the infertile women. The present study was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest and control group design. The statistical population of the study included infertile couples who referred to the department of wellbeing in the city of Bandar Abbas in the winter of 2019. 30 infertile couples were selected through voluntary method and they were randomly accommodated in the experimental and control groups (each group of 15 couples). The experimental group received eight ninety-minute sessions of ACT intervention (Hiz et al., 2004). The applied questionnaires in this study included depression questionnaire (Beck, et.al, 1996) and infertility stress (Newton et.al, 1999). The data were analyzed through MANCOVA method. The results MANCOVA showed that ACT on infertility stress and depression have been effective in infertile couples, as this therapy succeeded in the decrease of infertility stress and depression in these couples.
