The effectiveness of group happiness training on preventing recurrence of patients with substance abuse
The present study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of group happiness training on relapse prevention in patients with substance abuse. In a quasi-experimental study with pre-test-post-test design, 30 patients with substance abuse referred to Shiraz Welfare Self-Introduction Center who had successfully passed the detoxification period were selected by available sampling method and They were randomly divided into experimental and control groups (15 people each) and answered the recurrence prediction questionnaire in two stages of pre-test and post-test. The experimental group was then trained in group happiness for 10 sessions of 90 minutes and the control group did not receive any intervention. Data analysis was performed by SPSS-21 software using analysis of covariance. The results showed a significant decrease in the recurrence prevention score in the experimental group compared to the control group in the post-test stage. Therefore, happiness group training is effective in preventing recurrence of patients with substance abuse.
