Predicting marital satisfaction based on emotional intelligence and emotional creativity of couples

The aim of this study was to predict marital satisfaction based on emotional intelligence and emotional creativity of couples. The study was a correlational study and the statistical population of the study was all couples working in education in Tehran province, region 4, which was selected by sampling cluster samples from 200 couples. The instruments used in the study were the Petrids and Farnham (2001) Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, Elson, Forines and Drakeman (1982) Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire, and April (1999) Emotional Creativity. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (multiple regression and Pearson correlation coefficient) using spss20 software. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence, emotional creativity and marital satisfaction (P <0.001). Emotional intelligence and emotional creativity also have the ability to predict marital satisfaction (P <0.001). As a result, the results of the present study can be used to develop educational packages to reduce marital conflict and increase marital satisfaction.
