Sociological Study of the Sense of Exclusion in Female-Headed Householdsof Mashhad covered by Welfare Office
The present research seeks to explain how people interpret the idea of social exclusion and what are their strategies to cope with this phenomenon using a constructivist approach. The qualitative approach focused on the constructivist grounded theory model was utilized and 30 female householders visiting Mashhad Welfare Organization were interviewed via semi-structure quationaire. Findings indicate a gender-dominated environment influencing relationships and impacting the intra and inter group exclusion. Eight main categories including self-imposed exclusion, cultural habitus, feminization of poverty, reproduction of gender stereotypes and mistrust of consistent institutional and family support, were categorized. Finally, a core category called capability frustration was introduced.
