Abstract:
Antibacterial activity of alcoholic extracts of Thymus spp. and Aloysia spp. against Pseudomonas syringae in laboratory condition Abstract: P. syringae pv. syringae (Pss), the causal agent of bacterial canker and blast of stone fruit trees, is one of the most important plant pathogen in the world. This research was conducted to survey antibacterial activity of plant extraction on P. syringae pv. syringae bacterial strains. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) activity for bacterial strains were determined. Inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of alcoholic extract of Thymus spp. and Aloysia spp. were 0/65 and 1/31 and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) activity was 1/31 and 2/62 mg/mL respectively. Pseudomonas syringae was recognized susceptible to Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Gentamicin and nalidixic acid with halo diameter 25, 15, 25 and 27 and medium susceptibility to Polymyxins with 15 mm and finally 15 mm were observed for Copper oxychloride. According to the results, plant extraction showed significant effect on control of the above mentioned bacteria in laboratory condition and with further research, it can be used instead of chemical compound.
