The role of mental imagery in the US regime change strategy towards Iran: with emphasis on the unrest of 1396

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been influenced by various governments since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution. In this context, the United States is the most important country that has challenged Iran since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in the form of adopting a strategy of regime change. The US strategy of regime change towards Iran has been applied during the presence of various presidents of this country through methods such as threatening to use military force, imposing sanctions and using a combination of these two methods. This research has been done in the form of descriptive-analytical method. The main question of the research is what was the US regime change strategy towards Iran in the unrest of 1396? The findings also show that the United States seems to have sought to legitimize the government through the use of mental imagery in the form of social media and satellite media.
