Investigation of relationship between the location of the Sun and Moon and earthquake occurrence
The greatest celestial bodies near to us, i.e. the Sun and the Moon, cause some changes on Earth following their gravitational forces. In this paper, we evaluated the effect of the tidal forces and magnetic activity of the celestial bodies on increased of frequency of the earthquake occurrence. The tidal forces affect on both the sea waters and solid Earth crust. Therefore, during 2011-2015, using the catalog of the International Seismological Center, the earthquakes with the magnitude more than 5.0 has been considered. In particular, the influence of the Sun and the Moon on the earth is more than the other planets; because in the solar system, the Moon is the nearest and the Sun is the most massive body affect the earth. In this study, it was evident that new moon, full moon and super moon have high correlation to the earthquake occurrence increase. It seems that, the new Moon has a greater effect on M>5.5 earthquakes. The full Moon also affects on the earthquakes in less than a week elapsed the full Moon. In addition, the tidal forces of the Sun on the Earth and maximum solar magnetic activity during its 11 years, also affect the occurring earthquakes number.
