Resilience from new psychology perspective and the role of belief in religious teachings on it

Abstract:
Objective

The purpose of this study was to investigate the view pointof western psychologists regardingthe concept of resilience and the role of belief in Islamic teachings in order to strengthen the resilience in individuals.

Method

The method of research was analytical descriptive approach. Data were collected from library resources afterward the viewpoints were analyzed.

Findings

The investigating showed that the concept of resiliencein psychology isequivalent to patience as a moral virtue whichhas beensignificantly underlinedin our religious culture. Believes and behaviors recommendedbased on Islamic resources playconsiderable and impressive role in making or strengthening of this characteristic.

Conclusion

Theresearch findings indicated that Islam resources make recommendations to the believers in the field of cognition, affection, spirituality as well as behavior in order to clarify the necessity for resilience and strengthen it.
