Discussion in recording a phrase in Tazkirat al-Awliya’
The correct form of Arabic entries in Persian texts has always been the subject of discussion and correction by proofreaders, commentators, readers and those who are interested in these texts. The combination of Persian with the language of revelation has enriched this language. Honorable hadiths and Arabic phrases and poems, used by authors and poets, have also added to the beauty of this language. However, little knowledge and ignorance of some of the authors and scribes have sometimes caused a word, composition or phrase and sentence to erroneously enter the texts and confuse the reader. Attar's Tazkirat al-Awliya’ is no exception. The discussion of the present article is about the following phrase in Tazkirat al-Awliya edited by [Dr.] Shafi'i Kadkani: "The pious survive and the sinners annihilate." First, its speaker is discussed and then the correct form is determined.
