Ferrofluid and couple stress lubricants effect on the squeeze film characteristics in parallel elliptical plates

The present study aims at investigating a couple stress ferro-fluid lubricant effects on the performance of a squeezed film once a uniform external magnetic field is applied. For this purpose, Shliomis ferro-hydrodynamic and couple stress fluid models are employed. The considered geometry is parallel elliptical plates. The effects of couple stress, volume concentration, Langevin parameters and aspect ratio on squeeze film characteristics including time vs. height and load carrying capacity are investigated. According to the results, employing couple stress ferro-fluid lubricant in the presence of the magnetic field leads to an increased performance of the squeeze film. On the other hand, variation of aspect ratio leads to significant effects on the squeeze film characteristics.
