Evaluation the Psychometric Properties and Factor Structure of the Short Persian Version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale
Due to the clinical and research importance of the providing short and reliable tools for measuring the emotion regulation difficulties, present study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties and factor structure of short Persian version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale. The current study is an analytical cross-sectional study. The sample consisted 300 men were settled in addiction treatment camps and 300 non-users men whose information was collected in the parks of Tehran city. These individuals were evaluated using the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, short form of Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale and short form of impulsive behavior scale. Data were analyzed using Cronbach's alpha test, Pearson correlation test and confirmatory factor analysis using SPSS and Lisrel software. The findings showed that the internal consistency reliability of the short Persian version of the difficulties in emotion regulation scale is 0.91 and split-half reliability of this scale was 0.89. The results of the factor analysis confirmed the one-factor structure and the five factors structure of this scale. The results of the correlation test also showed the positive correlation of this scale with similar scales that shows the criterion validity of this instrument. It could be said that the short version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale has acceptable validity and reliability and not only can it be accomplished faster than the long form, but also its factor structure is more reliable.
