Effect of irrigation management and cultivar on yield and yield components of Soybean (Glycine max L.) in Chalous climatic conditions

Abstract:

In order to investigate the effect of irrigation management and cultivar on yield and yield components of soybeans, an experiment wad conducted in the form of split plots in a statistical randomized complete blocks design with four replications in the experimental farm of Islamic Azad University of Chalous in two cropping years (2017 and 2018). Four irrigation treatments included: irrigation with 7-day cycle (I1), irrigation with 14-day cycle (I2), irrigation with 21-day cycle (I3) and rainfed cultivation (I0) as the main factor, and four cultivar treatments including: Arian (V1), Caspian (V2), Nekador (V3) and Sari (V4) were considered as sub-factors. According to the results of comparing the average of the measured traits in different treatments during two years of experiment with increasing irrigation cycle and decreasing the number of irrigations and decreasing the water entering the field, plant traits height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, pod length, one-thousands seed weight, biomass, grain yield and harvest index decreased. In terms of crop yield, irrigation treatment with 7-day cycle with 3050 kilogram per hectare had the highest rate. In the investigation of different cultivars, Nekador cultivar with 3265 kilogram per hectare had the highest and Sari, Caspian and Arian treatments with 2827, 2400 and 744 kilogram per hectare were in the next categories. Comparison of mean traits in the interaction effects of irrigation and cultivar showed that treatment I1 (irrigation with 7-day cycle) and Nekador cultivar equal to 3356 kilogram per hectare had the highest amount and rainfed cultivation treatment (I0) and Arian cultivar with the lowest yield equal to 592 kilogram per hectare dedicated to himself.
