The Relationship of Islamic Lifestyle and Personality Trait with Psychological Happiness and Well-Being
The aim of the study is to investigate the role of Islamic lifestyle and five key personality traits in the psychological well-being and happiness. A group of both seminarians and university students of Qom consisting of 911 students as the sample of the research filled out the forms of Islamic lifestyle test (ILST-75), questionnaire on five key personality traits (Goldberg, 1999), psychological wellbeing (Ryff 1995) and depression-happiness (Joseph and McGreal, 1995). The research findings show that relationship of Islamic lifestyle and its minor standards with psychological well-being and happiness is positive and significant, and the relationship of personality traits with well-being and happiness is also positive and significant. The results of regression show that Islamic lifestyle and the minor standards of morality, punctuality, security, acts of worship, knowledge, mediation and finance and personality traits of agreement, openness to experience, emotional stability and extroversion can contribute to predicting the rate of psychological well-being. Also, psychological well-being and happiness are variables that rise in individuals under the influence of personality traits and Islamic lifestyle. As a result, strengthening Islamic lifestyle can strength and individuals’ the happiness and psychological wellbeing.
