Evaluation of the Effects of Six Weeks of TRX Exercise and Curcumin on Muscle Injury Indicators in Female Athletes
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of six weeks of TRX training and curcumin consumption on muscle injury indices in female athletes.
This quasi-experimental study was performed on 36 healthy female athletes with an age range of 18-25 years and a body mass of 18.5.5 kg / m2. Subjects were purposefully selected and randomly divided into three groups of 12 people including exercise + placebo, exercise + curcumin and curcumin. The training protocol consisted of six weeks of TRX training (three sessions per week; eight sessions per session). Curcumin supplementation is also given in the form of 500 mg capsules daily after lunch. Data were analyzed by paired t-test and one-way ANOVA at a significance level of 0.05 with Spss-22 software.
Posttest values related to creatinine index were significantly reduced in the exercise + placebo (P = 0.02) and exercise + curcumin (P = 0.03) groups. Also, this decrease in lactate dehydrogenase index was observed in the mentioned groups (P = 0.04 and P = 0.04, respectively). There was a significant difference between exercise + placebo group and curcumin group in creatine kinase (P = 0.00), lactate dehydrogenase (P = 0.02) indices. Also, a significant difference was observed between the exercise + curcumin group and the curcumin group in the indices of creatine kinase (P = 0.00) and lactate dehydrogenase (P = 0.05).
To reduce muscle injuries, TRX training can be used as an effective method to reduce pain and bruising after exercise. In addition to this exercise method, taking curcumin herbal supplement is effective in faster recovery of pain and contusion after exercise.
