Exploring of The process of Belief in God and the Day of Judgment in Resilience of survivors of Earthquake: A Qualitative Study
Due to increasing natural disasters and its effects on society, emphasis is placed on the role of spiritual factors in dealing with them; but research has not yet clearly elucidated these factors. The purpose was to explore the process of Belief in God and the Day of Judgment in resilience of earthquake survivors. The approach was qualitative (grounded theory). 27 Kermanshah earthquake survivors were studied through theoretical and purposive sampling using in-depth interviews. The data analyzed using Corbin and Strauss coding techniques. Based on the findings, Belief in God and the Day of Judgment was chosen as the main category. Cause condition (trusting in God, believing in divine justice, and administering justice) in survivors of earthquake under contextual conditions (unity and cohesion) and intermediate conditions (performing religious activities) they used strategies such as altruism and modeling. Finally, accepting and looking at life as a means rather than a goal were introduced as a consequence of this model. This study presents a clear explanation of the processes, responses, and post-disaster recovery. The findings can lead to create effective responses in disasters survivors.
