Development of a structural model of women's sexual performance based on self-concept and identity through the mediation of BMI
Sexual issues are among the most important issues in married life in terms of importance, and adaptation in sexual relations and fit and balance in it is one of the most important causes of happiness and success in married life. The purpose of this study was to develop a structural model of sexual performance based on gender identity and sexual self-concept in women by BMI.
The research method was correlation using structural equation modeling. The statistical population studied in this study were women (40-24 years old) referring to health centers in Karaj in 1397. Among them, 500 people who met the inclusion criteria were selected by available sampling method. The research data were evaluated through female sexual function index, Rosen, gender identity in different cultures of Schertz et al. And Snellchr('39')s multidimensional sexual self-concept questionnaire. And analyzed.
Fitting indices showed that the model has a good fit (χ2 / df = 2.81, CFI = 0.92, RMSEA = 0.06). The results showed that the path of sexual identity, sexual self-concept and body mass index to sexual function is negative and significant (P <0.01). Also, the path of sexual identity to the body mass index is negative and significant and the path of sexual self-concept to the body mass index is positive and significant (P <0.01). In addition, the results indicated that body mass index did not mediate the relationship between sexual identity and sexual self-concept with sexual function in women (P <0.01). The findings also showed that sexual identity, sexual self-concept and body mass index explain 71.5% of the variance in sexual function.
According to the findings of this study, a personchr('39')s perception of their sexual or emotional desire toward others as gender identity and beliefs as a personchr('39')s sexual self-concept have a predictive role in womenchr('39')s sexual function. It is important to consider gender identity and sexual self-concept as essential factors in enhancing womenchr('39')s sexual function in counseling and treating women about womenchr('39')s body mass index.
