Comparative study of quality of life (quality of their communication and elderlies’ personality characteristics) among the elderly living in nursing home and in their familyCase study:elderly living in Uremia

The purpose of this research is a comparative study of quality of life among elderly living in nursing home and elderly living in families in Uremia in 1394. The research method is causal-comparative survey (retrospective). The statistical society consisted of all men and women aged over 65 living in nursing homes and living in their families in Uremiathat according to census in 1385, the number of men over 65 years is 23207, the population of women was 22671 and the total of them were 45,878. According to Morgan, sample size is 380 and method of sampling is random sampling. The results show that, in general the quality of life for the majority of respondents (72/6 %) is in good level. The most important results also show that: There isno difference between the quality of life of elderly people living in nursing homes and living in families. Also, there is a difference between quality of communication between the elderly living in nursing homes and elderly living in families. And there is a difference between personality characteristics of the elderly living in nursing homes and elderly living in families. Moreover, there is a difference between dimensions of quality of communication and quality of life between elderly living in nursing homes and elderly in the family, and finallythere is a difference between dimensions of personality characteristics of elderly living in nursing homes and elderly living in families.
