The study of social capital among social groups (marginalized and non-marginalized) of Maragheh.
In the present study, the social capital of age groups (young-adult and old) and sex groups in two urbane and suburban areas has been considered. Three components of social capital: collective efficacy, trust, and social participation were measured with indicators such as (social solidarity, informal normative control, interpersonal trust, generalized trust, institutional trust and formal and informal participation). This study is planned on the basis of theories of social capital. The study is micro-level survey and data collected by questionnaires and interviews. The population of the study includes 10,757 people of urbane Maragheh and sample population is 400 on the base of Cochran formula. A group of 400 was chosen from the urban area that was made homogenous with the same age and sex with other group of 400 that make the whole group 800.the sampling method is multistage cluster sampling. Reliability and validity of the questionnaire estimated using cronbach’s alpha coefficient and conducting the questionnaire among 30 samples. The findings show that social capital is different in urbane and suburban areas. Indices of social capital are different except informal participation in urbane and suburban areas. Overall results showed that social capital in suburban areas is more than urban areas.
