The extraction of the components of existential therapy from the teachings of the Quran

This study aimed to extract components of existential therapy form the teachings of the Quran with an emphasis on Allameh Tabatabaei’s perspective. Research design was qualitative, in groups of theoretical or conceptual plans. Findings showed the shortcomings in existing existential therapies, and that the components of existential therapy based on the teachings of the Quran are: 1) faith 2) consciousness 3) meaningful world and 4) Loving others. Each component contains a cognitive and a behavior dimension. Based on the treatment modality extracted from the Holy Quran, we can say that the basic need of man is to health and security which are depend on having faith in God. In this treatment, it is assumed that neglect and oblivion of the Aalst covenant is a precursor to the diseases of the heart and the confusion of human. Thus, reminding Quranic verses and twisting existential therapy with a layer of Quranic culture could be helpful to therapists.
