The Effectiveness of Marital Enrichment Based on Choice Theory on Marital Relationship Beliefs of Married Women
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of marriage enrichment based on choice theory on the marital relations beliefs of married women. The present study was quasi-experimental with experimental group, control and pre-test, post-test with two-month follow-up. The statistical population of this study were women referring to Mehravar Counseling Center in Tehran who had referred to the counseling center in November and December 1997. 20 women were selected by purposeful method and divided into two experimental groups (10 women) and control group (10 women). Were replaced randomly. The experimental group received weekly intervention in groups in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Both groups were assessed in three stages: pre-test, post-test and follow-up by the marital communication beliefs scale. Data were analyzed using repeated measures variance test. The results showed that the effect of marriage enrichment intervention based on choice theory on communication beliefs (F = 2.23, P = 0.001), destructive component of opposition (F = 18.20, P = 0.001), immutability component Spouse (F = 23.73, Pf = 0.001), expectation and expectation component of mind reading (F = 28.94, P = 0.001), component of sexual perfectionism (F = 25.01, P = 0.001) And the component of gender inequality (F = 17.03, P = 0.001) are effective. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that marriage enrichment based on the choice theory is an appropriate method to reduce ineffective communication beliefs. Therefore, it is suggested that in order to strengthen the family foundation, marriage enrichment programs should be given importance in order to improve the relationship in couples.
