The Effectiveness of Using the Learning Cycle Model with Metacognitive Strategies in Improving Social Desirability and Self-Efficacy among Elementary School Girls
Given the low levels of social desirability and self-efficacy among Iranian elementary school girls, it was hypothesized that the use of the Learning Cycle Model with metacognitive strategies could help with the relative resolution of the stated problem. To this end, a cluster sample of 52 six grader girls in Sheshtamad was drawn and then randomly assigned to two groups of experimental and control. The experimental group was treated with a 15 session course in Experimental Sciences using the said model, while the control group went through the same course with the regular approach. Social desirability and self-efficacy of both groups were assessed prior and after the treatment using questionnaires of assumed validity and reliability. Data analyses revealed the effectiveness of the treatment. Hence, the use of this model is recommended.
