The Relationship between Family Function and Adolescents' Identity
This research studied the relationship between family function and adolescents' identity. To this end, 320 high school students (160 boys and 160 girls) selected through a cluster random sampling from Mashhad city. The participants completed Family Assessment Device (Epstein, Baldwin, & Bishop, 1983) and Identity Dimensions Questionnaire (Rajaei, Khonezhad, & Shirazi, 1388). The data showed that individual identity has a positive relation with problem-solving and reponsiveness, and negative relation with behavior control and involvement. Also, academic identity has a positive relation with responsiveness and a negative relation with behavior control and involvement. The problem-solving and responsiveness components have positive relation with national and religious identity. Finally, there is no relationship between family function components with vocational identity.
