The Relationship between the Personality Traits and Capability of Decision Making at Different Ethical Situation in Athletic Coaches
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality traits and deci- sion making capability in different ethical situations among athletic coaches in West Azarbaijan province. This is a causal comparative study. Purposive sampling include 96 coaches (66 males, 31 females) from Football, Footsal, Volleyball, Basketball and Handball teams who have been coaching the premier Leagues in West Azarbaijan province. Antecedents of ethical decision mak- ing (Caswell, 2113) and personality recognition (Bass-Vaienzi-Eldridge) questionnaires were used to collect data. Reliability and validity of questionnaires were confirmed (r=1885, r=1880). Kolmogoroff-Smirnoff was used to check the normality of data and dependent T- test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a positive significant relationship between personality traits (Introspector personality) with moral character and moral sensitivity. No significant relationship was observed between personality traits (Equali- tarian Personality, Introspector personality) with moral judgment and moral motivation. Also, there was no significant relationship between personality traits (Equalitarian Personality) with moral sensitivity and moral character. But significant difference was found between moral sensi- tivity and subject. The results of this study suggested that understanding the necessity of decision making methods under different ethical situation should be emphasized for coaches.
