Relationship Between Media Literacy and Satisfaction from Public and Satellite Channels
People living in new world in recent decades are facing with the phenomenon of mass media becoming epidemic and the development of new communication technologies in society, a phenomenon that has managed to capture a big portion of their daily life and to become their most important communicational channel with the surrounding world. This phenomenon has penetrated to all the private and public areas of their lives including moral, religious, political, social and cultural. Media literacy is one of the most important elements that have been applied in media and communication policy making in the recent half century by different countries for the purpose of research, analysis, training and awareness of the effects of Medias on different classes of society. In this research also we intend to study the relationship between media literacy with the level of satisfaction of students from national news channels and satellite news channels. In this survey study, for measuring the research variables a questionnaire with a 5- point Likert scale has been used that includes 6 questions related to satisfaction and 35 questions related to media literacy dimensions and is consisted of two parts of national and satellite channels. For analyzing the data collected from questionnaires Pearson’s correlation coefficient (Spearman) and linear regression test have been used. The research results indicate that media literacy has a significant and positive relationship with the satisfaction level of students of Azad University unit of East Tehran from the news of national and satellite channels.
