Value priorities of people are affected by different factors, which affects social behaviors and social activities. One of the primary and basic needs of social security, which is also affected by levels of material needs, also affects other levels of value system. This study, using the Maslow's Hierarchy Theories and Inglehart's Value Development (Cultural) Theory, seeks to identify students' value priorities and their interrelationships with the sense of social security.
Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire. Sample size includes 324 students from the Persian Gulf University in Bushehr during 2013-2014, selected by stratified method.
The findings showed that students had materialistic value priorities, and there was no difference in the material and transcendental value priorities based on their variables (age, sex, educational level, marital status, and socio-economic status). Social security feeling has a reverse and significant correlation with the dependent variable of material values and has a positive and significant correlation with the variable of external values.
