A contemplation on the increase of the youth’s age of marriage (Case study: Behshahr Payam Nour University Students viewpoint)

The aim of the current study is an investigation into the factors of the increase in the age of marriage from Behshahr Payam Nour University students’ viewpoint. This is a descriptive study of correlation type. The population under study were all the students studying un the field of social sciences in 1391-92. The total number was 373 students from which 181 were selected through simple random sampling as the sample. In order to collect data a researcher-made questionnaire was developed. The questionnaire has 30 questions in 5 degrees Likert scale to determine the reliability of which, the professors’ opinions were polled and to find its reliability the alpha Cronbach method was used. The obtained coefficient is for the questionnaire with thirty subjects and twenty-five items, (alpha=92%) which demonstrates the high validity of the questionnaire. For data analysis, the statistics was used in a descriptive level (mean and metric deviation) and in an inferential level (Pearson’s correlation coefficient, t-test, multivariate regression). The findings of the study were indicative of a meaningful relation between the increase in the age of marriage and educational variables, ultra-materialistic view to marriage, belief in opportunity cost, social factors, cultural factors and economical factors. There is also a meaningful difference between the university students’ views to sexual segregation and marital status.
