Social Capital Management and its Role in Regional Development and Social Security of South Pars Economic Zone
Social capital is a collection of trusts, norms, and connections which facilitate cooperation among the members of a society and can be considered as synonymous with “trust”. For this reason, some experts defined social capital as “interactions based on social trust”. Since in the modern literature social capital is considered as a prerequisite for any sort of economic development, and since neglecting it can bring about deep gaps in the society, “ appropriate social capital management” can increase “public participation” which is believed to be the most essential characteristic of social capital. It is to be expressed that due to the pervasive benefits of petroleum and gas in the national economy, the need for increasing participation of people in the regional economy is possibly neglected by the authorities concerned. The study of social capital in Boushehr Provice, as the greatest source of gas production in the country, has led to useful results which are to be tackeled in this study. The study illustrates functions, ways of obtaining social capital and its measurement, as well as the roles and ways of its strengthening in South Pars Economic Zone.
