Alienation in the novel "The New Day Meal" by Abdelhamid ben Hadouga based on Melvin Seaman's theory

Alienation is a phenomenon dating back to human history that has a broad meaning. The concept of this phenomenon starts from romantic homelessness, which is the result of nostalgia and return to childhood, and extends to psychological alienation, which is the result of escaping from the pursuit of political and social conditions. This phenomenon has increased in some periods for various reasons. In the contemporary era, the Algerian people have been affected by this phenomenon due to the presence of colonialism and the resulting economic and social crises. The Algerian novelist Abdelhamid ben Hadouga, who felt the consequences of the presence of colonialism in this period, reflected alienation in his works. Relying on a descriptive-analytical method, this research seeks to investigate the phenomenon of intrinsic and cultural alienation based on Melvin Seaman's theory of alienation in the novel "The New Day Food".
