Abstract:
The Islamic Revolution of Iran, as a religious phenomenon, has both religious and transcendent aspects, as well as historical and social aspects, and therefore a theory that can understand and explain it must be able to explain these two aspects. Sadraist thinkers (for example allame Tabatabaei, Morteza Motahhari and Hamid Parsania) on the one hand, considering the transcendent wisdom and innovation in it, and on the other hand, considering the Islamic Revolution, have tried to use historical-social theories about articulation of the Islamic Revolution. In this article, using the fundamental methodology, after reviewing the reflections of contemporary Sadraist scholars on society and history, six issues have been studied: 1) the existence of history and religious explanation of its evolution, 2) its driving force. History, 3) general and specific historical periodization, 4) the emergence of Western modernity and its stages, 5) how Muslims and Iranians face modernity and its forces, and 6) the roots and historical background of the Islamic Revolution. In conclusion, it is pointed out that according to the neo-Sadraist approach and especially Parsania's view, the Islamic Revolution is the product of a change in the ratio of epistemological and social forces in the past and contemporary Iranian society and has enabled the Islamic world to actively face the modern world.
