Analysis of the performance of the Shanashir according to its role in shading

Abstract:
Bushehr has a valuable historical context and has many instructive points in the field of climatic architecture, both in general in terms of texture and architectural details. However, some of its elements, such as Shanashir, which is widely used in the facades of Bushehr buildings, ambiguities about its efficiency and performance remain and it is necessary to determine its impact on the performance of the building by conducting detailed studies. Among the considerable number of scientific and experimental solutions, one of the most practical solutions is to review and study the climatic elements and contexts of a specific urban area and to adapt it to its traditional constructions. By studying previous studies on Shanashir, it is concluded that most studies have been based on descriptive-analytical studies on the cause of Shanashir. In the present article, an attempt has been made to examine another dimension of the function of the Shanasir, in the hope that a new understanding of the function of the Shanasir will be obtained. The strategy adopted by the authors is to use Radiance and Honeybee simulation software to analyze, explain, and provide a solution. By analyzing the studies performed, the correct pattern of the exterior Shanasir in Bushehr in terms of shading has been presented, which can be used by designer architects. For this purpose, after examining and identifying different species of Shanasir, in 4 different types, using computer simulation, the effect of Shanasir on shading is evaluated. The results show that the Shanasir attached to the roof, which extends one meter from the roof, acts much like a horizontal canopy. On the other hand, this type of Shanasir, in terms of shading, has a much better performance compared to the swing attached to the floor with a height of 1 to 1.5 meters
