Modernity and the formation of a unified Iranian identity; The approach of the first Qajar enlightened thinkers in the face of Iranian micro and indigenous identities with emphasis on urban planning

Modernity is an universal and dominant thought, that produces a great narrative and it includes small identities and they are being used to create a great narrative.Intellectuals tried to present a great narrative about Iranian identity,with emphasis on nationalism and in this way, they considered small and native identities as an obstacle to the realization of their narrative and they tried to reject or remove that. In this attitude,anything that disrupted Iran`s great concept was discared or was looked at it with pessimism. The narration of history from the Islamic basis found an Iranian basis and ancient history was viewed as an independent subject. In order to spread education and find a clear identity, it was suggested to improve the language and alphabet, and ethnicity and native identities specially Arabs, was viewed as an important factor in Iran`s backwardness and non_formation of the “home land”. In this article, the author examines the works of three Iranian intellectuals (Mirza FathAli Akhundzadeh,Mirza AgaKhan Kermani and Jalaluddin Mirza Qajar) and seeks to analyze their view of micro-identities to show that this view has a great impact on the intellectualism of the constitutional era and left the first Pahlavi period, which was with an emphasis on nationalism, and this in itself has strengthened the Iranian identity and indigenous culture and its manifestation in cities and urban planning, because cities should not distance themselves from their original and indigenous identity because they themselves It causes social and physical and identity anomalies in cities and citizens.
