The effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral therapy on perfectionism and self-focused attention in infertile couples in Isfahan
The experience of infertility, which some experts call the infertility crisis, is associated with physical, economic, psychological and social stress and affects all aspects of a person's life. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral therapy on perfectionism and self-focused infertility in infertile couples in Isfahan.
The present study was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design and control group. The statistical population of the present study is all infertile couples referring to Isfahan Infertility Center in mid-2021. Of these, 30 couples were selected voluntarily as a sample and randomly replaced in two groups including 15 couples, two experimental groups and a control group. The experimental group received a cognitive-behavioral therapy based on mindfulness for 8 sessions. The control group did not receive any intervention. The research instruments were Hill et al.'s Perfectionism Questionnaire (2004) and Woody, Chambels and Glass (1997) Focus Questionnaire.
The results showed that mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral therapy is effective on perfectionism and self-focused attention (p<0.05).
According to the results of the study, it can be said that cognitive therapy based on mindfulness has a significant effect on reducing perfectionism and focused attention.
