A Review and Critique on the Quranic Documents of Ahmad Ismaeel Basri on the Subject of Mahdiyoun

Throughout history, the claimants of Mahdism have referred to the religious texts to prove their legitimacy and have benefited from the misapplication of verses and narrations for their favor to mislead the thoughts of the religious of the society. The purpose of this paper is to answer the following question: “what are the Quranic adaptations of Ahmad Ismaeel Basri on the topic of Mahdiyoun and how it has been criticized?”. To explain the necessity of the research, it is enough to say that the deviant movements in the Quranic adaptations have mostly made use of them as an instrument to prove their belief, more that being concerned with the understanding of the reasons and serious intention of the verses. Ignoring the contexts of the verses and not paying attention to the howness of mis-inference and misinterpretation of the interpretive narrations had led Ahamd Israeel Basri’s movement to have a wrong perception of some verses on the topic of Mahdyoun. Moreover, interpretation based on one’s opinion and without acceptable narrative and rational support has led to invalid comparison of Quranic verses against a particular person. The research method used in this paper is narration-revelation-based (textual and intertextual analysis of verses and narration) and data has been collected in accordance with the library method and with reference to written documents and critical data processing method. The results indicate that his Quranic comparisons on the issue of Mahdyoun are not compatible with correct criteria of comparison
