An analysis of the definition of Islamic art and its current educational performance
Courses entitled Islamic Art were created in Iranian universities after the Islamic Revolution. Therefore, the effort to understand Islamic art and allocate courses in different educational levels has been considered, criticized and analyzed for many years. The purpose of this study is to present a more up-to-date process for the development of Islamic art education in the academic and artistic spaces of the country, with the question of what topics are the courses of Islamic art and what is the most comprehensive approach to its development? The research method is descriptive-analytical with a qualitative approach. One of the findings of this study is to understand the dual definitions of Islamic art (historical and historical-conceptual) that its topics focus more on the historical perspective and the revival of traditional arts. The conclusion is that according to thematic definitions, Islamic art should not be merely a renaming of traditional arts, but Islamic art education groups, along with traditional arts, should be able to cover modern art today and find a capacity beyond traditional arts.
