ISORAT 30401: A Tool for the Assessment Knowledge Management Readiness based on Knowledge Management Systems
Before starting on the Knowledge Management (KM) journey, it is important for the organization to know its strengths and opportunities for improvement. The purpose of research is to design a new tool (ISORAT 30401) to help organizations conduct a readiness assessment for KM based on ISO 30401: Knowledge Management Systems – requirments. To achieve this purpose, the APO KM Assessment Tool was used as a primary design framework. This article critically was benchmarked the structure and content of the ISO 30401 against the APO KM Assessment Tool taxonomies with the methods of Content Analysis and Meta Synthesis. The comparison results showed that the APO readiness assessment tool is compatible with ISO 30401 knowledge management systems. KM Readiness Assessment process based on the ISO 30401 Framework involves 45 questions. The questions are divided into 9 categories: Context of the organization, Leadership, knowledge management culture, Planning, Human capital, Processes and Operation, Technology and Infrastructure, Knowledge Management System, Outcomes. This researchs adds further legitimacy to KMS research, design, and applications based on ISO 30401 and provides guidelines for further development and operationalization of this ISO standard by certification bodies and implementation by managers. It is suggested to use this tool in organizations for validation and study the results against APO tool.
