A judicial analysis of the criminal response to illegal marine fishing in China
Over the past few years, China's maritime economy has been growing rapidly, while equally effective measures have been taken to ensure the superior quality of the marine environment. However, the country still suffers from illegal fishing problems, which hinders the protection of the marine environment. The environment and fisheries resources are prevented from achieving sustainable domestic and global development. For this purpose and the need to deal with individuals and groups that engage in illegal fishing in the sea, the Chinese government has approved a series of laws and regulations. Although these measures have worked really well in some cases, a number of legal hurdles need to be overcome. In this article, in order to understand the current status of illegal fishing in China, all criminal sentences related to illegal fishing in the sea since 2014 have been collected and analyzed not only qualitatively but also quantitatively, through which the problems The response to illegal fishing in the sea in China is summarized. It is believed that our findings will not only help to improve the control of illegal marine fishing and increase the protection of the marine environment in China, but also provide a possible reference for other countries in the world.
