The American wave and its impact on the global security order

Iran's nuclear program, in the eyes of the West, has the potential to lead to the acquisition of nuclear weapons. Therefore, this program, along with the anti-Westernism of the Islamic Republic, has always been considered a security threat to the West, and especially to the United States. The West has pursued two general approaches to limiting Iran's nuclear capacity: a peaceful solution or punitive measures and a military confrontation. US President Barack Obama accepted the first solution, which was in line with the UN Charter. This view emphasized multilateralism and the role of international organizations (institutional security). Negotiations between Iran and the six world powers eventually led to the signing of The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). As this agreement was related to international security, the same agreement was approved by the UN Security Council. Trump, the next US president, called Barjam against the national interest and left it unilaterally. Using descriptive-analytical method and using library resources, this research seeks to answer the question of what effect has the US withdrawal from the UN Security Council had on the global security order? The results of our research lead us to believe that the US withdrawal from the UN Security Council as an international treaty also ratified by the UN Security Council has shifted the world order from institutional security to a hegemonic security order.
