Abstract:

The quality of electrical energy is among the matters of great importance in the field of renewable energies, especially in the case of wind energy. Power quality has a lot to do with the type of control method used. In this paper, backstepping control is used to control an asynchronous generator-based multi-rotor wind power system. Backstepping control was chosen as the best generator control solution because of its robustness and high efficiency in improving dynamic response quality. On the other hand, this strategy was used to control the rotor side converter in order to improve the current quality and reduce power ripples. Matlab software was used to verify the proposed strategy, where the obtained results were compared with the direct power control in terms of power ripple reduction ratio, current quality, durability, and total harmonic distortion of current value. The results of the work demonstrated the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed strategy in improving the quality of the current/energy of the wind energy generation system using multi-rotor wind turbines.
