The Sociological effect of Informal Settlements on Addiction and Drugs (Case Study: Kermanshah City)

Considering that informal settlements are mostly accompanied by aggressive occupation or unauthorized construction and lack the necessary safety, they reproduce social damage within the family institution. Adaptation and compatibility in the outskirts of cities is very low, and families who are forced to live in the outskirts of big cities due to different cultures and different attitudes, often live side by side with each other, not with understanding, but with hostility, and it is natural. It is that they do not feel safe and their families and children suffer the most damage in the outskirts of the cities. By conducting the present research, the effect of informal settlements on addiction and drugs is investigated.

The current research is an applied research in terms of its purpose. In terms of method, it is a descriptive research and it will be done as a survey; Because the required information is obtained from the current state of the statistical sample using a questionnaire. It is a researcher-made questionnaire of informal settlements and a standard questionnaire of social harms, which is set in 66 items. The statistical population of the present study includes 270,979 male and female residents of informal settlements in Kermanshah city in the year 1400. In the present study, the minimum sample size required through Cochran's formula was 384 members of 4 informal settlement districts of Kermanshah city (Daulatabad neighborhood, Shatarabad neighborhood, Koliabad neighborhood, Jafarabad neighborhood), and this number was the basis of the analysis. The number was chosen by random-cluster method.

Addiction damage, as an individual and social problem, is considered a serious social damage in households with informal accommodation in Kermanshah city. So that some unemployed young people and even teenagers have chosen buying and selling drugs as their profession and earn a living in this way. The ease of access to drugs in some neighborhoods causes a tendency to commit special crimes, including drug trafficking and drug use among families living in these settlements.

According to the results of the final fitted model and the significance level related to the predictor variable, it can be said with 95% confidence that informal settlements have an effect on the amount of drug consumption of people living in the informal settlement areas of Kermanshah city. has meaning; That is, with the increase of informal settlements, the amount of drug consumption by family members increases.
